During my third year at the university, we had the opportunity to spend time worth of a whole course on a project of our choise. The only given requirement was that it was a modelling of a real world system. My group chose to make a modelling of a break shot in a pool game. Since all of us wanted to try to make something graphical from the basics, we chose OpenGL. With some help with the shaders from our mentor Stefan Gustafsson and models made with Blender, the result was exectly what we wanted.

Beat The AI

A web application game developed to educate the user within genetic algorithms.

During the course, we had free hands to implement an interactive media with some kind of AI involved. We wanted to make an application who is fun to use and educates the user. The result became a web based game where the user tries to get to the goal in fewer tries than the AI.

Face recognition

Two different methods for face recognition.

During two different courses I learned a lot about face recognition. Both courses used Matlab as the tool. The difference between the courses is that TNM034 went through the whole scenario from image procession to recognition. In TNA009, we got the decimated images handed to us but with harder cases.
In TNM034 approximately half the project was about pre-processing. Techniques to detect and mask out unwanted attributes of the images. The other half was to represent the a dataset of faces with eigenvalues and match it with the test image.
Some examples of a harder cases for NTA009 was different lighting and face expressions. To solve the harder problems we used two methods: Higher Order Singular Value Decomposion(HOSVD) and QR-decomposion.
